In part 1 of this tutorial series I'll be going over all the main channels used in the Arnold toon shader for Cinema 4D and how to use them to create unique shaders.

Superb. I really need to go through all this info, and experiment. What could you say about cinema's built in toon shader and it's options as a comparison ? Oh, and I'm subscribing just for these contributions you made to the 3d community at large :)

I love this technique and the tutorial you have posted. Seems the Arnold shader is mega expensive and out of most individuals price range. Is there just the plugin for just the toon shader portion for us artists that aren’t rich? Hahaa.

Great tutorial! I was wondering how you achieved a fine line around your shadows (referencing your image at 0:25)?I'm using Maya and haven't been able to reproduce this effect. I was also wondering about using the TriPlanar projection for the Edge Detection Map as Cubic doesn't seem to be the right choice for Maya or am I not understanding something?
