When upgrading a custom car audio system a Digital Signal Processor, or DSP, can drastic change the level of performance and improve sound quality, bass, and more... But learning how to tune a DSP is difficult when there are many complex terms to know. In this video we look into some of the most common terms you are likely to encounter for a DSP car audio tune and discuss what they mean!

I think a video on all pass filters would be beneficial. Thanks for the great content as always, Mark.

Great break down. Many of your videos have helped me dive way deeper into car audio than I have in the past. Keep the information coming!

Been using a MiniDSP 8x12 with Dirac Live I HIGHLY recommend it for beginner to intermediate IF you are going to be doing your own tuning as it is somewhat easy to learn ..to be honest I have had several years of using Dirac in my Home Theater .... There is still a learning curve sometimes very steep if you incorporate software tuning like REW or Rephase ...
Dirac has, with basic parameter setup, an auto tune that has very impressive results ...
The real difference in my system was putting my mids and highs on the dash aimed to the top mid of my headliner ...the stage is now much improved down through the lower mids ..
Tuning is really fun to get into if your a audio nerd like me and Im very grateful we now have videos like this to share knowledge and techniques ... Its especially important if you're goal is SQ vs SPL

I had a Rockford Symmetry epx2 with a 28 band eq back in '03. I was the best and most complicated piece of audio equipment I've ever had

Thanks for explaining about whether or not some audio gets through below or above the high pass or low pass setting. That is a very important point.

I was very excited to install a system again after so many years in the car I have now, then I ran into issues.😅
First, the box that I had planned to put in the car doesn't fit the space, I'll probably will have to build a custom box.
Second, the speakers I was going to tap into for the LOC, are on the same channel.
Anyway, I still enjoy watching these videos.

Thanks Mark! I was messing with my new speakers and d6.1200 and couldn't get it to sound the way I wanted and this video helped tremendously

I would love to see a video on the all pass filter function. Also, if you can make a video on how to tap into the factory signal behind the head unit, I would find that most helpful and I am sure others who follow your channel would too

Could you make a video on music sources and the quality of them? Like Apple uses hi res Lossless and tidal uses mqa

What is reference level volume ? Also what volume on head unit corresponds to 0 dB on equaliser?

I'm liking this channel's coverage with the Audio Control® DSP lineup and tutorials. Likewise, I certainly agree any material you post covering the filter known as All Pass would be cool. 🤙🏻

Great video. It would be nice to see a video on how to set the amps in the head units crossovers gain and all other settings for use with a DSP. Do I set them all flat turn them off when it comes to the gain do I crank it up leave it low things like this

Hey I just wanted to ask how you would go about doing sort of a Watt limiter

because my Amplifier can put out more juice then my subwoofer can handle wich is not a problem when I'm using it but when maybe someone else is driving my car and doesn't know this and cranks the volume, the subwoofer will likely will break

so that this doesn't happen I want to build a Watt limiter that goes in between the Amplifier and the Subwoofer that limits the maximum throughput to 100Watts

Awesome video I’m still trying to figure out what parametric eq setting I should use?

I'd love to see a video dedicated to All Pass. This is something I'm not familiar with, but on the idea of Phase, had questions on.
