𝗦𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘀? Or general 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻?

Here’s a basic deadhang stretch that may decrease the curvature of your spine if you have a side-to-side curve (aka scoliosis). Or at the very least, it’ll give you some relief 😉🙌

Simply grab a bar, or rings, or something 🆙 above you that can support your weight. Hold on tight, and let your bodyweight sink into the ground, pulling everything down and straightening out your spine 😌

While you’re hanging there, lift one hip and then the other, shopping around for whatever feels good 💯 This isn’t going to fix everything, but it likely offers some relief and acts as an opportunity for you to explore the sensations in your body. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 ⁉️

There we discuss much more about the anatomy, common strength imbalances, misalignments, training sessions, and various levels of workouts to help you live a life in better alignment 💪. Remember, we can ALWAYS educate and better ourselves further.

Did you notice that the grip being used, when the hands have an option, is the neutral / parallel / hammer grip? (To be specific, the natural grip for hanging exercise is a slight chevron: neutral with the thumb-sides of the hands angling towards each other.) I always advise using a neutral grip where poss - it's natural, and you notice the difference immediately.

How about inverse hanging from my legs? That gives me so much more relief. Legs hurt in the begging but then i got used to it

I have significant lumbar central canal stenosis, with minimal disc issues. (doing all I can with MRI's, CTs, Cortisone shots, acupuncture, PT, Rieke massage, etc.... and can reasonably function. But I want to do ALL I can at home by myself for the long term to avoid surgery) Thus my compression is neither lateral or vertical, to any great extent. Just inward, squeezing the nerve bundle. Because my tendency is to walk slightly stooped over, it does feel good to hang stretch, but it "seems like" I have more pain down to my ankles later. Hard to know if my hang stretches helped or hurt. In my web research, I cannot find any info yea or nay on hanging for canal narrowing. Thank you for posting videos and thanks again! if you have time to provide any information assistance.

I did a dead hang yesterday when I took my son to the playground, as I've got spinal stenosis, and mild scoliosis ...and a really bad lower back for months so I thought it might help. I did 3 dead hangs. The first one almost made me pass out and had trouble grabbing the pole next to me to steady myself, till I came back to normal. Then I did a short one and it was okay. Third time, I completely passed out and fell and hit the ground. My lower back is so sore today, and my head has been aching since last night (kind of headache that's similar to a bad hangover). What happened?! Would be grateful if anyone could help me out here.
