Great job to the fellow riders for saving this mother and her child

This is exactly what we need. Citizens protecting each other against crime and making sure law enforcement gets ahold of criminals.

Rules don't mean anything without consequences. If these perps get released back on the street all these rules don't mean a damm thing.

Cautiously optimistic, but will say trains were running better with fewer bums today. Now we just need to get rid of the ones in the DA’s office and courts who keep releasing violent criminals early!

Lets be honest. These are not homeless, these are Bums. Homeless people lose their home because of fire, loss of employment and hard financial times. Bums choose to be out in the streets, refuse to get any help, hound, pester and cause trouble.

ridiculous. took so many lives lost and people hurt in order to do this. hello! should have happened during and after the pandemic and not let thugs rule. what can a mom and son do in situations like this if not for those brave citizens?

This is like the late-'80s, when things were really scary in NYC.

We all need to watch out for one another especially for women with children. 👍

We need Police protection also on trains during off-peak hours!

He was granted no bail and was released back on the street in less than 4 hours. This is all well and good, but it’s meaningless if you don’t keep these criminals IN JAIL

Thankful for the Lexington Ave Subway Riders who opted to get involved, to assist the mother and child vs just recording it on their phones. More thankful that the Good Samaritans did not get hurt or injured while doing so along with NYPD arriving at the 86th-Lexington Ave Station to make the arrest.

Finally, ppl are taking action instead of just sitting there recording the incident.

And to what end? They can arrest as many people as they want. But when the Manhattan DA refuses to prosecute, all measures are useless. The suspect will be out of custody before the police officers finish their reports.
Just a month ago the Manhattan DA, proudly, announced that his office will NOT be prosecuting most offenders. The mayor can have all the cops in the subway system that he wants. It looks good. But there's no effect on the crime rate.
New Yorkers can enjoy the crime rate that they voted for!

Thank goodness we have more police officers in subways. Now we just need a lot more of them on the streets. Heavier penalties is also what we need.
