It's time once again to discuss the absurd fact that many Americans suddenly lose their right to carry a firearm for self-defense the minute they cross a state line. Washington Gun Law President, William Kirk, discusses a new case, filed by FPC, which challenges New York's ridiculous law and asks the Court to find the residency requirements unconstitutional. The case is Shaffer v. Quattrone and it was just filed in the Western District of New York. So learn more today and arm yourself with education.

NYC I pay $340 every 3 years for CCW and $140 for rifle shotgun . This is ridiculous and this Bloomberg executive order needs to go.

This is ridiculous. I live in a NY county outside of NYC, but I work in the city. My NYS CCW is not valid within the 5 boroughs of the city. We need national reciprocity to end this mess. Thanks Bill and keep up the good work, I always look forward to your content.

This country needs; "Constitutional Carry" under Federal law and Supremacy. This should overrule all permitting screams. If you pass a N.I.C's check and, you're not a prohibited person, you can carry, in all 50 states. State lawmakers and Governor's can't supersed this law!

By way of the 2nd Amendment, all American CITIZENS should have the right to buy, sell and carry firearms anywhere inside the United States of America, without any permit.

For those who are not informed has 2 permits....if you apply for a New York City permit and its issued to you... you can carry thru the state....If you have a permit issued from anywhere else within NYS you can not carry in should be investigated it's probably unconstitutional but NYC does what it wants

Problem is unconstitutional laws take years to fight in the courts. And only days to make another another unconstitutional law.

This is part of my own personal lawsuit in drafting against the State of Hawai‘i where Honolulu PD and Maui PD both have refused to even let me so much as apply for any license (like a § 134-2 Permit to Acquire to lawfully own, including to lawfully inherit from my parents on the mainland) on grounds that I can’t prove being a state resident; but, additionally, state law HRS § 134-9(a) expressly on its face provides that only state residents can apply for a License to Carry and non-Hawaiian residents can never qualify to carry in the state.

I live in the NE corner of New Jermany, about 2.5 miles from NY. I routinely travel thru NY to get to major highways, because of their bs laws, I need to take different routes to get to certain places. It’s a real struggle sometimes. Hope this gets turned around.

THE PROSECUTION OF ANYONE WHO DARES TO SELF DEFEND IN MANHATTAN SAYS IT ALL. HOCHUL SEEMS TO BE IMMUNE TO ANY LAWS . SHE LITERALLY GIVES THE
FINGER TO ANY LAW SHE DISAGREES WITH , WITH NO CONSEQUENSES WHATSOEVER.

Pistol permits (concealed carry) are REQUIRED to even purchase or handle a pistol in the state of New York. That means you cannot even have one in your home without a full carry. This needs to be addressed and this case slightly mentions it. People always miss this glaring issue with NY's law. Even if you lock your pistol up in your car (in a safe, trunk, etc.) prior to driving into NY state, to perhaps shop at a store, you are risking a felony as that would constitute unlawful possession of a pistol in the state of NY. In almost all states in the USA you can buy a pistol to have at home without a concealed carry permit. That is not the case in NY.

Your win at SCOTUS is making all these laws. Suing doesn’t seem to be working

It needs to go so much further than this. NY residents are constantly denied ccw and permits to purchase. All they did was double after the bruen decision. Constitutional carry needs to be enacted across the entire country. Federal law supersedes state law last time i checked. Permits to carry and purchase are constitutionally null and void. We're tired of people being protected by guns, telling us we don't have the same right to keep ourselves, our families and potentially the strangers around us safe.

NYPD has issued an emergency order to allow non NYS residents to apply for a NYC license that covers all of NY State. Unfortunately those of us who live in NYS but not NYC our NY State (NYS) licenses are not covered in NYC while those who live in NYC get everything. So we have to pay for 2 licenses while NYC residents only have to pay for one.
