Examples and explanations for a course in ordinary differential equations.

In this video we give an example of a mixing or mixture problem involving a polluted lake with streams flowing in and out of it. This problem can be solved using either integrating factor method or separating variables.

Please show your work, I was very confused and had a hard time following along. If I knew how to do the math, I wouldn’t be here :(((

It is separable because you can multiply both sides by dt and then take (.025-.0625x) and divide both sides. You'll end up with (1/.025-.0625x)dx=1(dt)

How is this problem separable? I can see it or how that would happen so long as the concentration in is not pure water.
