A quick tip. If you can’t beat the stone vanguard, if you have all six Buddha eyes, you can summon the secret boss in the arena without having to beat the vanguard. If you do that, especially Cut scene will play and then they’ll start fighting. It’s almost a guarantee, the Secret boss will win, but I hope you get past an annoying step.(make sure to do this before waking up the vanguard)
