I think the painting is really cute, honestly.. adding wires to the headphones would make them less like earmuffs 😊
But you are right. We all struggle.
I hate a lot of my art.. but sometimes I finish a drawing & I just can't believe that i was able to make something so good. Lol

I agree that there should be a happy medium, it’s not good to hate all your art, but it’s not good to love all your art.
I used to hate my digital coloring, and it really got me down :< I eventually learned but there was a time where I hated everything I created and felt I’d never improve, but then I found a style I liked :D there was also a time where I loved everything I created, but then I fell into bad burn out. So there are pros and cons to both situations, most of the time there’s a good mixture, with just enough conflict to make it interesting ;3

I went through a funk where I was just bored with my art and witch drawing the same stuff over and over. Even though they always turned out super pretty, it was just boring. I started trying different stuff, hated it at first but that's because I hadn't practiced it much, but I'm growing to like it more as I refine and study it. You're not gonna love everything you make, and it's always gonna have mistakes, but it's always gonna have nice qualities too. And when you're feeling down that's what should be focused on. Great topic! Your videos and art are amazing, I really love the clash of style on the poodle (reminds me of the secret life of pets poodle ;D )

Wanting to improve and having moments down the gutter and moments back up is just human. We need these darker days to get the light back

When I have an art piece or craft piece turn out wrong, I will put it aside and move on to something I am feeling more, sometimes for me, it's just a mood thing and not everything evokes that creative mood. I have a variety of things I enjoy doing, so I never get bored with just painting, or just building dollhouses and room boxes, or just sculpting (which is my least favorite thing to do, lol), I find starting a new creation is very refreshing. Very impressed with your art and how you present your video's.

I really appreciate an artist talking about this subject because I’ve just recently gotten into an art block and am very unmotivated,

Personally I’m struggling to find my art style. I’ve always been obsessed with the anime/manga style and I really want to achieve that. I made a drawing that I was very proud of and still am but I just can’t get any of my newer pieces to portray my style. I have been looking up ways to get their eyes to correspond with the way I draw facial shapes and have been testing out how to draw hands and hair!
I hope to get better and force the inner perfectionist in me to understand that it is OKAY!

I don’t like your art... I LOVE YOUR ART

Right now my biggest goal is to enjoy drawing and drawing whatever the heck I want to because I got so burnt out throughout my last two college years of professors just critiquing the bad things they saw in my art that I barely drew anything so for once, I just want to enjoy the ride, draw as much cutesy Dr. Who fanart as my heart desires and move onto more serious and study pieces when I feel like it!
As for your poodle piece, I really enjoy the final outcome! That's another thing that's good to mention; sometimes you yourself don't like a painting/illustration but someone else? It might be their favourite from your gallery! Art is so subjective and if you see that someone enjoy's your piece feel happy that people see the good side of it even if all you see are mistakes and anatomy errors.

Always strive to improve yourself but don't push it so far that you can't enjoy what you're creating! <3

Hi! Thank you for making this video. I think this is an important topic. I personally think art is entirely subjective. It can be seen in countless different ways. I often have these times where I am just bored and uninspired to create art. I have gone weeks at a time, not really drawing. While I hate myself for doing this, I know I need those breaks where I can relax and focus on other things. As far as hating my art, I wouldn’t really use the word “hate.” I would say “unhappy.” There are times where I just am not satisfied with stuff I create and the sad thing is, they start out with great ideas and end up not being what I wanted them to be. I honestly just move forward. I acknowledge the mistakes made and try to correct them. Interesting story: I tend to complain about poorly done art pieces by me on social media and I may get some sweet people telling me that it looks really good. I obviously say that it really isn’t. I’ll explain where I went wrong. Be it the proportions aren’t right or if I know I could’ve done better. Then, people tend to understand. I think that’s the important thing for artists or for life in general. Know where you went wrong and fix it. Don’t beat yourself up on mistakes, but also don’t let your self esteem get too high. Find that healthy balance between criticism and being happy with what you do.

The art piece is so cute!!! I love the idea! I actually liked the facial expression of the poodle since with the shape of the piece, it made it look more sophisticated. Idk, just what I thought.

I have one particular piece of artwork that I did 12 years ago for an exam. It took 13 hours to complete it, and I've hated it since I finished it! I still have it and every now and then I'll look at it to see if I like it yet. About 5 years ago, I realised why I hate it so much even though it's a good piece and got me a great grade. I hate it so much because it's a constant reminder of a hugely difficult time in my life. My health was failing and I was in and out of hospital for over a year trying to become stable. So every time I see the piece, i don't see the hours of work, the composition or the grade. I just see an endless supply of hospital rooms, doctors, needles etc. But I will always keep the piece and always look at it periodically, and maybe one day I will see the work for what it really is.

This is a very good painting, but I think it's the music you Invisioned her to be listening to that threw you off. She doesn't necessarily look expressionless, but slightly saddened. She looks as though she was listening to rock, or metal, or something, but her parents took the good music away, and made her listen to etiquette tapes instead. It's like the painting to the prequel you never drew . It's beautiful! 🙃🙃

I sometimes don't like my work cos I see too much of my old style reoccur now and then. Like, my old and stupid mistakes I was sure of improving so what do I do? I go crazy to change it or I consider it jut a fail and move on with slight frustrations and fear to fall back to my old art habits. I like certain aspects tho, but not the anatomy mistakes or the

Funnily enough, I'm in a period when I like everything I do. Not because it's good, but because it's my own little achievement. I'm NEVER fully satisfied with how my drawings turn out, but I like them, and keep trying to improve. If there's smth that I've started and don't like, I leave it aside till I am in the right mood to like it and be motivated to finish it.
Alas, best motivation usually is: "this painting needs to be completed and given/sold to someone TODAY!"
Which reminds me! I need to get back to work. Need to finish a drawing in half an hour... (I've been postponing it for a few months now)

I think your expressionless poodle is quirky and cute and actually makes me laugh. So I like it a lot.

As a fairly new artist I'm still learning a lot of things, so every time I finish something I don't like it. I've gotten into the habit of putting whatever I've worked on aside for a few days. When I come back to it I can be more objective about what I like or dislike and why. I can also see what I've improved on and what I'd like to work on improving next.
