“The fate of destruction is also the joy of rebirth”

Thanatos truly is the sound of the universe. More than beauty. I love Evangelion. It has given me more emotions than I could have wished for.

Being alone with Asuka, at the end....literally made me cry. Oh, shinji. You were in so much pain.

The backround is so beautiful and immersive, I wish there was a version where it isn't repeating

The scrolling sky-universe back ground is so simple yet so effective/beautiful in going with the song and classic EoE poster.

A beautiful piece with a hint of melancholy in it. The End of Evangelion was truly the pinnacle of human culture.

While listening to this song, I imagine a single flower being planted at the edge of a cliff, with a glittering ocean reflecting the moonlight. As time passes, this flower slowly decays. Winter comes by, the flower dies, but then spring returns, and once again the flower sprouts from the ground. Seasons passes, years passes, as the flower blooms, so does it began to decay. A repeated circle of rebirth and death. You wonder why it is so persistent on returning each spring, only to be destroyed in the winter. This endless cycles which seems meaningless, suddenly becomes so beautiful. This song perfectly represents the meaningless continuation of birth and death, but although meaningless, it is at the same time…beautiful.

Absolutely stunning.

Edit: Just read the lyrics for the first time ever, and the first verse pretty much perfectly sums up the ego death I underwent after watching EoE for the first time.

“Now it's time, I fear to tell
I've been holding it back so long
But something strange deep inside
Of me is happening
I feel unlike I've ever felt
And it's making me scared
That I may not be
What I think I am.”

Wow. Perfectly encapsulates what I was feeling as I cried myself to sleep for 2 hours that night. I’m fully convinced that no movie will ever be able to flawlessly and esoterically covey what depression is really like to the extent Anno was able to in EoE. Takes one to know one.

To some people, pain and sorrow is more comforting than pleasure or joy. Shinji Ikari was one such person.
