Perhaps one of the most horrific things about Hitler and the regime was that he was not working alone. One of the most monstrous of all was the Chief of the SS and Architect of the Holocaust, Heinrich Himmler, who was directly responsible for the deaths of nearly 7 million innocent people.
And he left a diary. Today we're going to look at the writings of the most evil man of World War 2.

Burning money in post WW1 Germany was cheaper than buying wood or coal.

I love how the animators at The Infographics Show made Himmler look like a psychopathic simpleton.

Truly, this man exemplifies how evil is so... ordinary.

The title is misleading. There is hardly any detail from his diary.

Himmler's opposition to firing squads was also self-serving — he didn't want to create thousands of trained and armed sociopaths.

When a power-seeker starts calling his enemies vermin you should take that as the reddest of flags

It baffles me that not that many people know about how horrible he was and how much he orchestrated this tragedy. I remember in 6th grade learning about the holocaust and we read The Boy In The Striped Pajamas as part of our lesson. And afterwards, the teacher didn't really speak much about it, didn't really go into details the horrors that those people went through and how evil the Nazis were. I became an avid history buff at a younger age and had this really detailed WW2 visual guide at the time I was reading. And that book had a lengthy segment about Himler and his involvement with the holocaust. So I raised my hand and asked my teacher if she knew who Himler was and she said no. So I got up and started explaining to everyone who he was and how horrible he was. And the teacher and class were so baffled and horrified about learning about him. Schools don't really teach u that much about history and it's really sad that they don't, b/c then people don't know or learn about people like Himler and his involvement

I've sometimes seen reviews of books being like "Oh come on, we know character X is evil, but he'd obviously wait until he secured his position before continuing his killing spree. The idea that he keeps doing evil things and wasting resources while he's being threatened instead of trying to win? Real people just aren't that evil" and I have to face palm since while a lot of authors take liberties with human psychology to make interesting stories, you don't need artistic license to find examples of real evil.

I love the implication of Himmler saying “Ah darn, can’t gain any muscle. Must be those darned Jews again”

My humor is much worse than this I promise

There an HBO movie about the Wannsee conference called “Conspiracy”. It’s very well done and written from the actual notes from that meeting found during the war.

I think this just goes to show that your comicbook villian is not real. It's seemingly normal and decent humans that do the most cruel things.
Intelligence, Bitterness and Cruelty are a very dangerous mixture.

I am an American Jew and a Combat Veteran of OiF/OEF. I always found it astonishing how this sickly man in spectacles who was a chicken farmer was so sinister and evil.

This man was an absolute monster but I didn’t know he was a coward
You did a really good job you know it’s a good video when you go back to watch it again after you finish watching it the first time

It was like contagious insanity. A collection of serial killers all in one place.

I appreciate you for encouraging people to go back to history so that they can have similar observations with today's chaos. Remember history repeats every 80 years because we are in a Fourth Turning.

It is truly sad to witness a man becoming evil simply because he was overwhelmed by numerous misfortunes beyond his control.
