He will go down in history as one of the best and most forward thinking presidents the U.S. had.

Speaking of the Matrix, is that Agent Smith interviewing Obama?

One aspect any president needs to be president is the understanding of the need for technology.

We'll have to explain to the students of the future how this guy was president between Bush and Trump.

Obama seemed wise about AI than the the MIT guy

1:47 This is the problem of an uninformed electorate. A lot of the people who voted for Trump don't understand that no specific government policy cost them their jobs, automation did. Obama had no control over that and neither did previous presidents. It has all happened quite rapidly and with tremendous momentum. What we do need is someone in the White House who understands technological forces or at least knows enough to hire the right people. Trump doesn't inspire confidence that he can do this.

While watching this interview it became abundantly clear to me what is truly at stake in this unprecedentedly consequential election. Whatever your opinion of the two major candidates may be, you cannot in good faith deny that only one of them would actually be able to intelligently participate in this discussion. The other would impulsively interrupt with ignorant, inarticulate, and incoherent 140 character soundbites. God save us all.

I feel so much better knowing that the president knew this much about AI. More than I thought he would... and now I am crapping my pants on whoever wins this race tonight...

very nice to hear Obama addressing the impact of technology on full employment and wages, as well as positing that social constructs are part of the process in dealing with an increasingly technological world

Well, the lighting might be nice but the camerawork and editing is awful.

Obama is the star, not the cameraman.

The most intelligent president America has ever had. It scares me that certain politicians don't have a good handle on what AI is and could potentially do. I'm becoming more convinced that UFO sightings are a result of AI technology.

Actually is all about the back doors. It is precisely there where the true artificial intelligence lives accumulating, his strength and his survival lies in its discretion.

Google search Andrew Yang. Presidential Candidate talking about these same issues. America needs to be woken up to this, if we're going to be able to restructure our economy in order to mitigate the potential harmful impacts of displaced American workers caused by automation.

Specialized ai - algorithms - complex tasks

I think more and more Trump is a blip on the political scene. The country has moved too far away from his values, for the most part, and is changing too quickly for people like him to survive as a viable political force for very long. The old men surrounding him have no idea how to handle all the forces at work and their last-ditch attempt at retrenchment in Reagan-era values is ultimately a lost cause. AI in 2017 is like a bellwether to judge whether a president has their shit together or not.

I love the fact that people think they have control, the only control we have is choice to do or not to do something.
Real AI not a computer program that does one task but real AI is still hopefully a long way off, but don't kid yourself if we ever truly create AI control is an illusion.
