Practicing makes a lot of sense. I noticed that I understood the basics pretty fast, but then made rather stupid mistakes trying to actually write the code myself. It's kind of like hearing people talk in a foreign language and understanding a lot, but constantly searching for words yourself when trying to make a conversation. Thanks Chris!

Great video. There is indeed no unique answer to this question. The main questions are really how much time you can dedicate and how motivated you are. I personally learnt 100% by myself. No bootcamp or degree. It took a good 3 months of evenings & weekends to overcome the doubts and initial frustrations. It is complex and doing it after work with not 100% brain capabilities makes things harder but what kept me going was to have something real to work on from day one and see that I was making progress toward this goal after every few hours spent coding. My number 1 tip would to be have a real product in mind when you start, however simple or stupid, just try to build something and ship it.

This is so useful and encouraging! I can't afford a bootcamp so I've been learning from YouTube, and it's a pretty steep learning curve.

I kind of needed this. I'm currently trying to get over that hump, but it's so hard. Especially for someone with a non programming background, I feel like my brain just doesn't want to understand it sometimes. But the sense of accomplishment I get when I run a successful build is like no other, like i can feel it in my gut lol So i'm just gonna keep on going and see where I end up, i'm 24 so i have a long road ahead of me. Thanks for the vid.

I'm right on the point where I notice it's harder than i thought. But I'll keep watching tutorials and practising! I'll never give up my dream about my own App!

I've been at it a little over a month now. Some things I get, but other things are much more difficult to grasp. It can get a little frustrating at times, but I'm not ready to give up just yet.

Thanks for the mental preparation part of learning. I always quit when the going gets hard… whatever I do.

What helps me recently is make my own tutorials and publish them in YouTube. They are ugly compare to Chris’s but it helps me understand things better that way. And also it helps me if I forget something. Because once I start watching my own tutorials, I can finish my own sentence and it becomes clear once again.

Does Chris still make videos or run his website? The latest update seems to be almost a year ago.

Thanks Chris, i get that spending more time will make you familiarize with the language, however i see myself memorizing the documentation which is originally not my scope when i start. iOS documentation is out of head. i would appreciate if you could make a video to go through the documentation?

I am currently enrolled on a course in Udemy but I have road blocks and I usually can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong so I end up moving on without comprehending past lessons. Is there a community of help with your course?
