My parents had this done on me when I was 3. My ears never grew again. Masks have been almost impossible in the pandemic and glasses are a pain. Hate it. That ain't consent.

Had this procedure done when I was 10. The only thing is that we lived in a house in the Philippines with no air conditioning. The sweat would drip down over the healing sutures and itch like mad.

We have ears that stick out in my family. My cousin had this done. She says she can't hear as well. I am proud of my ears that stick out. I can hear very well.

My husband was bullied as a child for his cute ears 🥺 so he begged his parents to get this surgery for him, and they did when he was still quite young. For those who want this surgery and are being scared by other commenters: he was very happy with the results, and he still is. His ears are a bit sensitive to touch in the back. Obviously you wouldn’t want to pull on them harshly, since they’ve essentially been sewn back and have less flexibility/give. But you don’t want to pull on your ears harshly anyway, right? I can definitely see the bumps where the sutures used to be behind his ears, but only because I’m his wife, and I’m always really close to his head for various reasons like giving him a haircut, pestering him, or just kissing him all over lol 🥰 no one else would ever see or notice the bumps. If it’s something you’d really like to have done and it would really boost your confidence, I don’t think it’s anything to worry about too much (unless you just have low tolerance for… anything?). I wouldn’t let other comments scare you. All surgery comes with a risk. Ask a reputable doctor, and be honest with yourself about what you can handle as far recovery and inconvenience (I had a craniotomy when I was 7 to remove a brain tumor, and I feel like I handled it like a pro. I’m tough about getting through almost anything like that. So I’m never really worried that I can’t handle certain things. But some people have a really low threshold for things. You just have to be honest and realistic with yourself so you don’t end up getting into a situation that’s too much for you. Everyone is different). Regardless, your ears are amazing. If people are making fun of you for your ears, they’re just assholes who don’t matter. But I understand that it’s not always easy to ignore people who are cruel like that.

I used to get teased for my ears sticking out but as I got older they started looking more proportional. I went from being extremely self conscious about them to never ever thinking about them.
Before my teens I thought I needed surgery but I'm so glad I didn't go for that option because in my case I just needed time.

I dated a guy once whose ears stuck out and that was my favourite thing about him, these kind of ears are literally so adorable

I had this done at 24, and it’s one of my biggest regrets. You can feel the sutures, and it’s uncomfortable when I massage my ears. My ears also have less natural mobility. They are stiffer. Once it’s done, it can rarely be undone.

10 years ago, a friend's daughter had a baby. His ears stuck out and I just mentioned that if he wore a little bonnet especially when laying down, it would gently "train " his ears closer to his head. It works when babies are young. My friend laughed so her daughter didn't believe me. The little guy is cute and a good person, but he looks like he could fly in a high wind.

Don’t forget about the pie cut out of the lobe too! Went into surgery at 13 to get both my ears done (was considered to be reconstructive) only to wake up to my dr saying she only did 1, sutures didn’t hold and the nerves were never the same, then insurance decided it was cosmetic and screwed over my parents 😂

Flared ears are cute, I don’t think this surgery is necessary unless there are some deformation involved
