Even if you play with and give loads of attention to your singular rat, it doesn't make up for other rats' communication, grooming, and playing. They ALWAYS need a friend.

there was a clip of a rat covered in soap that appeared to be cleaning itself. DO NOT DO THIS TO YOUR RATS. that one was trying to get the soap out of it's eyes. if your rats are dirty, baby wipes are the best way to handle the situation. Also, TWO RATS IS THE BARE MINIMUM. even then it's recommended to get more, but if you are getting a rat, you have to get two or your rat will get depressed and stop eating, no matter how much time you spend with it. A human is not equivalent to another rat. There are no excuses. If you can't get two rats, don't get any because eventually you'll have none anyways.

Gonna be completely honest. Spending a schmorgasborg of time with a single rat won't amount to having another rat. Not only is it inconvenient for most people, their psychology is negatively impacted by not having a rat friend. Also their eyes boggling is normal

NEVER get only one rat, even if you're 100% sure you're going to spend a lot of time with it. you can't replace the kind of companionship that another rat would give it. having two isn't that different from having one, and if you can't manage, don't get it in the first place.

No, human companionship is not the same as the company a rat gets from another rat. Always get two or more or your rat will be depressed and die no matter how much attention you give them

It is not optional to only have one rat. Rats need the company of other rats and you cannot completely replace another rat no matter how hard you try. I love my little ratto girls, 10/10 would recommend.

NEVER GET JUST ONE RAT!!! if you’re thinking about getting them as a pet, you either get 2+ or none. if you do not your rat will become extremely depressed and eventually k!ll itself (most likely). this isn’t a joke. it doesn’t matter how much time you spend with them, your rat needs a buddy.

This makes me cry. I had two rats at the age of 1 year and seven months. The third video reminds me of one of my rats Blueberry. She recently died after a tumor removal surgery. We are guessing that she also had heart problems. She was the sweetest rat ever and at such a young age it was sad to see her go. She would always groom are faces with her little tongue. We still are waiting for her ashes to come. We still have her sister Poppy who lately has been really down without Blueberry. This situation may not seem to sad for many people but when I saw her body I broke out in tears. It was honestly just the saddest thing. I know I got off topic a bit and made this comment very long, and there may be typos, but this is very important to me. Rest In Peace my dear Blueberry.

I’m just gonna add, when said if your considering getting only 1 rat, make to sure give it lots of attention. Scratch that off, get 2 rats, flat rate, no other options, getting only 1 rat should not even be a option.

you pretty much have to get 2 instead of one, they are so social you can't give them enough company. you can't sleep with them like another friend would.

plus it's scientifically proven that rats with a friend have a longer lifespan either way. so just get 2 instead of 1.

“if you’re only getting one rat” NO. You do NOT just get one rat. Rats aren’t a solo pet. Companionship isn’t an option and as a human, you can never give a rat the kind of grooming and affection that another rat can give it. Stop spreading this harmful info.

Edit: Rats are exotics and one of the hardest rodents to care for. I am speaking from experience. Not to mention the monthly costs and vet expenses. They’re not suitable pets for children and are not easy pets. They require months of research and dedication to care for,

Rats unfortunately get a lot of hate because of their stigma, but they’re extremely cute fuzzy critters who love attention. The only rat you want to avoid steward and the nyc rats lol

keep in mind they only live 1-2 MAYBE 3 years. They can also get a lot of health conditions because they are very sensitive, especially their respiratory systems.

If you smoke weed or something you will put your pet at risk of getting health conditions. Their lungs are literally the size of your thumb
