THANK YOU for taking the time to educate on this very real problem within Christianity today.

So many of my Christian brothers and sisters seem to think that this type of teaching only happened in the past.

I graduated from a Baptist High School in the 90's that I say was barely Christian because they were heavy into legalism.

They actually told us in a chapel service on Wednesday that "some of us were going to split hell wide open".

Yikes!!

Glad Jesus got a hold of me through salvation.

It was then that I finally began to see Him as a LOVING and MIGHTY God who hates SIN but not the world.

God is willing that none should perish. That's how DEEP and FAR His love goes.

I also believe people want to remain in legalism because it’s easier than developing an individual relationship with God. It’s easier to follow a set of rules and compare yourself to others then it is to compare yourself to Jesus. The one we should strive to emulate, like how obedient he was to God vs pleasing others. At least it was for me, and instead of taking responsibility for the fact that I wasn’t growing(producing fruit) I could just blame it on the devil because legalism allows and encourages it.

Legalism falls apart when we develop a love relationship with Jesus. Everything (obedience to the Word) just falls into place as that relationship matures. It's easy to "submit and obey" when you love someone.

I battle with playing video games. The thing is that many years ago when I was younger I was addicted to them, and at some point I got rid of them (about 10+ years ago). I recently bought a gaming system and some games and play them, but I am not addicted to them. I play maybe 2 to 4 hours a week. However, I feel anxious about it and I wonder if I will be ultimately lost because of playing games. I must say that I really like video games and I always have, but I don't want to be lost because of it. Man it's frustrating to not be able to enjoy a hobby one likes and be at peace. Some folks have no problem with such things. I know that for the most part in christianity video games are looked upon with a negative view. I battle in my mind every day about this issue.

Agreeable, but it must be clarified that the 10 Commandments (which was written by God's finger in stone) are God's eternal law and will never go away. The Holy Bible is clear about this, and the host gave a few examples.
