1. Timing:
• Repot during the growing season, typically in spring or early summer, when the plant is actively growing.
2. Prepare New Pot:
• Choose a pot that is 1-2 inches larger in diameter than the current one.
• Ensure the new pot has drainage holes to prevent waterlogging.
3. Soil Mixture:
• Use a well-draining soil mix, preferably cactus or succulent mix.
• You can also add perlite or sand to enhance drainage.
4. Remove the Plant:
• Water the Adenium a day or two before repotting to make the soil more pliable.
• Gently tap the bottom and sides of the current pot to loosen the soil.
• Carefully lift the plant out, supporting the root ball.
5. Inspect Roots:
• Check the roots for any signs of rot or damage.
• Trim any dead or rotting roots with clean, sharp scissors or pruning shears.
6. Place in New Pot:
• Position the Adenium in the center of the new pot.
• Adjust the soil level so the top of the root ball sits about an inch below the rim of the new pot.
7. Fill with Soil:
• Fill the remaining space with the prepared soil mix, pressing it down gently.
• Leave a slight depression around the plant to hold water.
8. Watering:
• Water the plant thoroughly after repotting, allowing excess water to drain.
• Avoid overwatering in the days following the repotting to prevent root rot.
9. Aftercare:
• Place the Adenium in a location with bright, indirect light for a few days.
• Resume regular care once the plant has acclimated to its new pot.
