Just finished rewatching The Sopranos yesterday. Are you spying me, Herstorian?

Man, when I watched The Sopranos I wondered what the fuck was Gabagool. I'm from an Italian family and I had never heard of any fecking Gabagool. Now watching this video I realized this was coppa, which I do know.

Guess it also makes a difference that my family was from the north, not from the south.

In the costal parts of Croatia (that had been influenced by Italian culture a lot) it's a common food item. It's called buđola (boo-jo-la; đ/Đ sounding like english J like in Jack or Joe). I couldn't find a origin of the word in croatian but I assume it most likely comes form modified capicola as it shares the -ola or maybe from some other italian dialect word for it that ends in -ola
