The Russian helmet seems very similar to the new Stiker helmet being developed for the EF-2000. Similar sensors (lumps) and it uses what looks like digital mirrors projectors that uses less voltage than something like cathode ray tubes that were on the first gen Striker. The Russian helmet has been in development for many, many years so I imagine it’s taking that long to incorporate a lot of features never before used on Russian helmets otherwise this helmet would have been in production long ago. I image it may provide something like radar data, night vision and digital mapping of air defenses umbrellas. This makes sense since the SU-57 now has side radars that are canted down so it will have excellent ground mapping and resolution especially at the lobs where multiple radar beams will converge to create very powerful beams.

Firefox helmet had the limitation of only thinking in Russian

you need to understand that Russian electronics/avionics industry was in severe decline after USSR collapsed. Engineering/production facilities were spread in now independent states which made cooperation difficult and with drastic budget cuts some of the leading houses went bankrupt.

The Russians had HMS near two decades before the West on the Mig-29.

Honestly guys... This is pure speculation at this point.

"not as advanced"

Claims the people making the F-35...

And Su-57 already had helmet mounted sights/etc.
This is the complete upgrade that adds all the stuff that wasn't finished when the previous helm was done.

I’m pretty sure they had a flip down HMD but I think this new one is more integrated

Whatever the Russians make will work and fulfil their criteria but I doubt they will overcomplicate things, they have the intellectual property bank and years experience so I expect it to be practical, reliable, not over complicated and not super expensive.

Hello there, i'm a Malaysian....our SU30 is not using Russian made Smart Helmet, we are using French made one....when Mig29 in service....pilots complaint that Russian made helmets are darn heavy, even pilots had a nickname for the helmets, its call BATU...means Rock..coz its kinda heavy🎉

The F35 helmet looks very heavy, what will happen to the neck when ejecting?
The Su-57 launched missile strikes on the ground, but these are just missiles; it can carry missiles in its internal compartments. There was some kind of missile with a camera. According to rumors from the media, SU-57 will also be a carrier of mini drones, which fighter can launch in the air like missiles.

I wonder, how these idiots are trying to discuss the things they have no access to, at all. No access to classified data, no list of parameters & capabilities, no knowledge about characteristics. But, sure, they have an opinion... Made from the photos and pictures.

Genuine question: what makes you assume that SU-57 was not using a previous-generation Russian HMCS? Because it's only logical that they used at least one from Su-35S.
This particular helmet for Su-57 had been in development for well over 10 years. What delayed it was the need to basically re-design it from 0 again when access to western materials and electronics components was stopped. They had the overall design done, but new materials had to be found, used, tested, adjusted. Same goes for the electronic components and cameras and sensors and projectors.
F-35 and its EODAS system required that "see-through-plane" ability for ground strikes. This was part of military requirements. Su-57 doesn't have a CAS mission in its design the way F-35 does. In that it's same as F-22. Dropping gravity bombs without guidance and close-in today is only possible against opponents that have no air defense at all, and thus why Su-57, designed to fight a technologically modern opponent, doesn't seem to be equipped for that mission. It's made to fire long-range missiles, and for that it doesn't need the "see-through-plane" ability.

For anyone asking about the new 6th gen aircraft, this is an older episode. China is going to steal the spotlight on the next episode

This helmet was developed like 6-7 years ago and is in active service with the Su-57s, Its not a new helmet at all.... but I glad you guys are catching up

The Su57 is definitely launching air to ground long range missile strikes. We know this for sure because they have hit targets with a weapons system that only the Su57 family (maybe the Orhkotnik too) carry.

Hope you two have a great new year. You two would be great at giving practical classified capability briefs to a variety of those kind of in-need audiences.
