-It- *I* happened to -meat bypassers- *meet some passers-by* with -an alcohol whiff- *a whiff of alcohol* on Friday evening. Probably for those people who *had* slightly lubricated -the throat- *their throats* it -smells as a sweet weekend's perfume- *smelled like the perfume of a sweet weekend.* However, I prefer to wear a scent and not consume any bouquet -consisted- *of* beverages -inside.-
There are dumpsters -in- *on* the way to a kindergarten nearby me, so children can sniff -a- *the* pong of them every morning passing by. But things are not so bad. The cleaning company takes out *the* waste -on- *from* time to time so, on those lucky days, -nothing is stunk- *it doesn't stink.*
I found an interesting method -about- *for* ridding *oneself* of -a- *the* stench of -the paints- *paint.* All that you need to do is to keep opened bowls of vinegar in the room where *the* painting has been done. If I had -found- *discovered* it before I would not have struggled with the heady reek after *the painting of* my doors -make up.-

Could you help me clarify something:

Smell -> can be done passively, you breath normally and a scent enters your nose.
and can be done actively, in this case "smell" is a synonym for "sniff"

Sniff -> to breathe in sharply through your nose, usually when trying to actively smell something.

Is "Sniff" a better option to describe the process of discovering a scent of a rose?

Is that a good explanation?

Interesting point of view "So many words for bad smell, on the contrary, we will find only few vivid words for a good scent ."
However I added vivid sense verbs to my vocabulary such (pong, whiff and scent).
Frankly bouquet
is associated in my mind to a bunch of flowers only, never heard bouquet as a fragrance of a wine or just a (scent).
