1993 Saab 9000 CSE Turbo Test Drive

Today we get to take a POV test drive in a 1993 Saab 9000 Turbo with 244k miles on it. I actually filmed this a couple summers ago and never did upload it, but it is a perfect time to upload since this is BALD MAN SUMMER. RIP Saab, Long Live Saab.

I've had three 9000's, still have the last one. It's a 1995 2.3t CDE, also automatic. I've replaced the seats and doorcards with Aero ones. It has a Garrett GT28RS turbo and a 3" downpipe, sports cat and a 2.5" stainless catback system. It's been dynoed at 338hp / 361ft lb of torque. I've had the car since 2008. It's been off the road for over four years now though due to failed head gasket and some other issues. I _will_ get it back on the road one of these days though.

Greetings from Australia – great drive 'with you' in the SAAB down the freeway, enjoying your thoughts on the Saab etc.
I'd been after a half decent 9000 AERO for a good number of years now, many have high Ks (mileages) and have had a hard life – but last August 2023, BINGO! I found one 4 sale online not far from where I live. I was the first to call and went straight around, when I arrived he said his phone went hot with calls (following my call). It's a silver 1997 5-speed manual in near immaculate condition (there are no marks on the paint for example). He was the second owner of 22 years, fully serviced with 149, 000 miles. It looks new, paint, trim etc. always garaged. So I'm now the proud owner of this lovely AERO. It never seems to stop getting comments when I take it to a tyre shop or garage due to its condition etc. Whilst the car is totally stock aside from the sound system, the previous owner had fitted a Quaife LSD. I do love the seats by Recaro, they look amazing and feel amazing – I'd love one as an office chair! All the best

Thank you for posting! I drive a 1993 9000 cse 2.3 turbo 5 speed every day! ( not winters) I love it. It is quick . Full.pressure turbo. 168, 000 miles. Feels good. Headliner sags and door cloth is falling off. Little but of rust. She cranks down the highway.

Ah, the 9000. A very fancy 4 banger, and still one of my favorites, just parted mine out and after buying a 900 spg, i really dont miss that project. still a sweet car nonetheless.

These cars are bulletproof and fun to drive, sadly most of them are neglected on oil changes

My family had a 1992 9000 base. Worst car we ever owned. The only reliable elements of that vehicle were the windshield and bumpers. Maintained and serviced by the dealer, and always garage kept. My dad took it to another dealer to see if their service department could address the issues with no success. Sent it to the crusher not running with just over 80, 000 miles. Replaced it with a Pontiac Grand Prix with the die hard 3800 engine. That Grand Prix got to 100, 000 miles with only oil changes, a brake job or two, a few light bulbs, and survived me learning to drive on it and dusting all the punks in my school with their tricked out Civics.

Met my ex girlfriend in 2007. Her rich daddy bought her a 2003 Saab 9/3. Same story, dealer serviced and always garaged. That car was a parody of quality. My boring, rusty, 93' Corolla with 3 pedals and almost 200, 000 miles was the admiration of the service department every few months when we had to pick up her car after the repairs. It once broke down on her way back to school. I hopped in my Corolla, met her, stuffed everything that she had in the Saab in my little Corolla somehow, dropped her off and went home the next day. 500 mile round trip in a 14 year old car that a 4 year old Saab couldn't handle. Her dad really hated when I told that story.

Have owned Saabs since '84.. Saabs were EXPENSIVE and Frankly 'unreliable' ..
Saab Stories were ubiquitous. All Fanboy claims not withstanding. Few bought them .. period.
Shame that Saab is extinct But it is what it is.

I have saab 9000 97 a50 200hk but stage 2 and 3 inch exhaust. And i Have saab 9-5 04 2, 3t with aero turbo, aero clutch, stage 3
