Is time travel possible? | Brian cox time travel theory

Join Brain Cox, as he answers about how is it possible to time travel. However he adds that travelling into the future is achievable, but travelling into the past is difficult by giving an example of his time travel equation and says that if you travel to Andromeda Galaxy from Earth and return a round trip to from Andromeda to Earth it will be 5 million years into the future.

In Interstellar, it is unimaginable to me how Cooper could sit and watch recordings of his kids growing up. And then knowing they'll grow old and die without ever seeing you again. I always wondered why he doesn't ask about his son when he reunites with Murph

Fun fact: for photons, time does not flow at all. The photon emitted by our Sun, although it reached Andromeda after millions of years (according to our perception), for itself this journey is "instantaneous" and does not last even a second.

Imagine coming back 5 million years later and the earth isn’t there any longer

This concept touches upon the intriguing phenomenon of time dilation, a fundamental prediction of Einstein's theory of relativity. According to this theory, as an object approaches the speed of light, time for that object appears to slow down relative to a stationary observer. This means that a hypothetical journey to a distant star, such as Andromeda, at of the speed of light could result in experiencing significantly less time compared to observers on Earth. However, achieving such speeds is currently beyond our technological capabilities, and the challenges involved in such a journey are immense. Nevertheless, contemplating these ideas sheds light on the fascinating interplay between motion, time, and the fabric of the universe.

It’s always easy to understand complex issues when Brian explains them for us non-mathematicians.

prof looks always happy because he traveled the speed of light and saw his future

Brian Cox has truly taken over the reins from Patrick Moore. After his first broadcast on UK tv he was kind enough to reply to an email I sent him regarding that program. A truly humble and thoughtful person!!

The first logical & more importantly SENSIBLE explanation I’ve heard about time travel in a very simplified manner. Thank you.
