Mehdi Hasan Speaks to Ex-Israeli PM Ehud Olmert, Trump Critic Anthony Scaramucci | Mehdi Unfiltered

In the first episode of Zeteo's weekly flagship show, 'Mehdi Unfiltered,' Mehdi Hasan clashes with former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert (2006-2009) over Israel's war in Gaza, imagines what Donald Trump's first 100 days in office would look like if he's re-elected, and speaks to former and short-lived Trump White House official Anthony Scaramucci about the dangers of a Trump second term.

Mehdi pushes Olmert, who oversaw Operation Cast Lead in 2008 to 2009, on Israel's alleged war crimes and genocide in Gaza, and how he may have laid the groundwork for what Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is doing in the besieged enclave today.

"This Gaza conflict didn't begin on Oct 7. You were killing civilians, your military, in 2008/09, were you not?" Mehdi asks in confronting Olmert over his government's actions in Gaza.

On Trump...

Mehdi uses Trump's and his team's own words to imagine what the first 100 days of a second Trump term might include. Think troops on the streets in cities nationwide, a massive — and chaotic — deportation operation, the pardoning of the Jan. 6 insurrectionists, and even a Trump order for police to shoot shoplifters.

Mehdi then speaks to Anthony Scaramucci, who expands on the dangers of a Trump second term. Scaramucci, who famously served in the Trump White House for just 11 days, warns the former president "wants to be the North American autocrat."

This is the former Israeli Prime Minister who began his time in office with the unrelenting blockade of Gaza in 2006 (to punish Palestinians for voting the wrong way in elections they were encouraged to vote in), who gave us the war on Lebanon later that year and who wrapped up his premiership with the "mowing of the lawn" in Gaza a.k.a. Operation Cast Lead, which killed 1, 400 Palestinians, including at least 320 children, and wounded over 5, 000. Let's just say that his benchmark for war crimes is somewhat different from those of us who aren't mass murderers.
