I was front row center for this performance. I called TicketMaster and ordered the ticket...they asked me where I wanted to sit I said "Front Row Center" as a joke...They said wow you are the only person who as asked for those seats... It was amazing.

I grew up listening to this. Now I am able to share this with my son. Very grateful this has been added to YT. Perfect for the times we are living in today.

I remember this we went to the Indianapolis Church. We sang this all the time and my family enjoyed it so much. Is there a way to get a physical copy of this play?

My first campus event I ‘89, Honolulu - immediately studied the Bible after watching this and got baptized 2 weeks later. Learned every song by heart for the next several years. Absolutely LIVE this musical from this era in the church.

I was also raised on this …. years later I’m inspired by what one generation was able to do. That’s still what I’m called to do. ❤️

Teresa Brown will forever and always be my #1 favorite performer. Even at my big age of 37 (was literally raised from birth on this musical) I would probably still fan girl out if I saw her. I still remember singing with her briefly at pre-teen camp one summer.

Subsequent mountings of Upside Down were somewhat weighed down with overly busy instrumentation and unnecessary teenage subplots in my opinion. This first version is still the best version. Bob Tranchell [ Peter ] was my campus minister at one point.

I'm no longer part of the COC, but I loved this musical. I got to see it in Dallas in the 90s and just loved it ❤

I saw this back of the eighties. Our whole church watched it together after doing a long study of the Book of Acts. So powerful to see part of the bible performed as a musical right after we had studied it!

I've always rather suspected that someone on the staff, possibly in Wardrobe, was a fan of a certain fantasy film starring David Bowie which had been released the year before.
Take look at David Grahm as Simon Magus at 1:02:16 and see what you think! 🙂

I am a French woman who went To the USA in 1988 To live 8 months with a family and went To an English langage institute to improve my 7 year school knowledge of this beautifull English langage. Yes beautifull despite the fact that English, French....langages are corrupted today by a poor vocabulary, vulgarity, too much slang, etc...
I was living in New-York city back in 1992. I met a French woman who was a disciple of Jésus in the international Church of Christ. She was part of the artist ministry and they gathered each Wesnesday and Sunday at the Roundabout theatre on time square. GOD heard the cry of my heart and sent me to this church despite its imperfections. I saw the musical performed mostly by the New-York s' church artists. I am so happy To watch this one. Among the commentaries, I came To remember Declan Joyce and his wife. If anyone knows Cathy Picket, she is the sister who taught me the bible with such zeal and love. A few years later, I returned To France and moved To Paris. The Paris sister church had about 600 disciples. In 2002, Henri Kriete wrote a long letter to bring to the light all the dysfonctionnal ways the church built up all this years. I left the church and trusted no more churched. After wandering in the world for 6 years, I met some disciples of a evangelical baptist church. Then I moved back to a small town near Bordeaux( close To my blood family) and was a member of another small church. And a few years later, I met in Bordeaux moracan disciple of Jesus at a picnic organised by a now 76 years-old zealous brother, and we maried later. We no longer belong To any churches because of some false beliefs. I got in touch with a maried sister who was in the Paris church, when they moved to Bordeaux. Some members of the Paris church have Also moved To Bordeaux.
I am immensely greatfull To God who lead me To the truth through the New-York church. I pray for them and for all the flock spread around the world of all churches, because the Lord said To remove not the rye grass from the wheat. May God bless you all and keep you from the evil one. Sophie.

Raise your hand if you were ever personally victimized by the ICOC 🙋‍♀️

I love this musical. I first saw it when I was a young disciple back in the early 1990s.
