This really demonstrates the dark side of nostalgia for me. Everyone thinks that nostalgia is just a pleasant feeling when you remember something positive, but the problem is that this positive feeling exists because it demonstrates a loss in your current life. I am incredibly nostalgic for the classic Pokemon content because it represents the easiest, most carefree, and generally pleasant part of my life. This was elementary and middle school for me, and I miss those simpler times before I had to care about geopolitical crap, several economic downward spirals, and several other facets of life that grief us as we grow up. It really is the loss of innocence that this evokes.

Day 2, 548 I'm still living in this tiny home they call "Pokeball". Nothing has changed, stuck in an endless cycle of fighting to the death and being brought back to life, over and over again. All I see is darkness, all I hear is nothingness, I feel so numb, empty, trapped. Does this world not have more to offer? Is there hope... hope for a better life, hope to be free once again and roam the vast regions of our planet. One day... perhaps, Ash will hear my cries for help...

Imagine they create a new Pokemon anime where they present the story on the manga but with darker animation (some sort of attack on titan) and making the it more serious, darker (same story line as manga but accentuating the fights, making look real evil the villains). This would be the perfect OST for that.

When you realize they changed Ashs personality from "Catch Em All" to "Fight Em All" and gave him a new buddy who was gonna "Catch Em All"

Ash returns to Pallet Town and his home after years chasing Pokemon and battling other trainers. He finds his mother bed-ridden, the doctors unable to do anything but reduce the pain of the illness ravaging her body.

Ash demands the doctors do more, showing them his sizable bank account and stating that money is no problem.

The doctors, visibly mournful over the situation, explain that they have done everything they can and that the most that they can give her now is to make her final hours as pain-free as possible.

Ash falls to his knees beside his mother as he recalls all of his many adventures, this theme playing ...

Watching this after the last episode was premiered (spoiler warning)








































Ash becomes the world champion, its over, for now anyway, it took 25 years for him to get this far, pikachu is 25 on the Pokedex. The game was many of our childhoods, trading cards, watching the show, and bragging about who the coolest pokemon was. All good things come to end - a wise person.

I must say, I did not really feel the "dark". It sounds like a calmer, a bit more melancholic version of the theme, but I got mostly positive vibes from it.
