This IIB is the only Mark I've ever played that doesn't have that inherent nasally mid character. Is it amp-to-amp variation? Is it the power section? Hard to say. Anyway, what do you think about the difference?

Mark iii sound a bit more hairy, the iib has smoother gain but listen to the difference of how they handle single note riffs at 1:35 (mark iii) 2:50 (iib). Mark iii has that distinct snarl when dropping your palm down on the strings to mute a ringing note. Both nuts.

I had one of the last IIbs fully loaded in hardwood head shell and the cleans were lush. Seems like the loop mod has massive impact on the tone, mine did not sound like that. Never really could get what I wanted out of if. Before that I had 60w black stripe. Just awhile a go I found fully loaded no stripe with EV (serial pointing towards black stripe) and it sounds better than I remembered. MkIIIs are overlooked and undervalued beasts, which is a good thing, these can be had for next to nothing.

Man, I love your Channel. If you answer all the questions that Us Mark series nerds have. And, you even calibrate them by setting them up next to the rectifier, there modern staple. That's exactly what I would do to differentiate eras. Thanks a lot man. I got myself a 2b+ because of your input.

the black stripe is kinda muddy and looser on the palm mutes .. the drg seems brighter and it has what sounds like more gain but that could just be a tighter amp. why don't you want to ship your dual rectifier?
