since many people of different countries watch this I just wanted to say the colour of the cane varies depending on the country. for example in some countries when the cane is red and white it means the person is blind AND deaf. So please inform yourself as much as you can ^^

also thanks for spreading awareness and you are so beautiful, Oceanne 💕

Curious how does it help you see? I know the concept of using it to see ahead of you and around you but I wanna know how you can use it on a daily basis is it like the texvture on floors that helps?

In case you're interested, you can find one that has the grip colored as well. I got mine from the adaptations store in San Francisco.

What’s the difference between white and normal canes?

They have very decorative/colorful tapes at @CanadianTire that you (them, me, us, everyone/anyone who wants to use them...lol) could use to really make ur personality shine (stickers too, ohh what I would do ro mine if I had one...actually I make walking sticks out of sky's the limit) 😉✌🏼🌻

I think some form of white can be important to have in it especially for the elderly to signal that they can't see. We have a family member who just lost her vision a couple years ago in her 80s and let's be honest she doesn't necessarily know how to use a cane. She has it just so people can tell that she can't see. If the stick would be black for example people could assume that it's just a stick for some other purpose, but hopefully if they see white it clicks for them.

Hey!
I also have albinism and I didn't use a cane untill recently. I'm curious to know how the white cane helps you in your day to day life, since you do have a bit of vision like I do. And in which circumstances will you prefer to not use the cane?

I honestly have a hard time to take my cane out when I'm with people I know since they do know I can see a fair amount despite being legaly blind so I feel kind of ridiculous using it... anyways, struggles...

I would love to surprising ways of how you use it, things that we could not learn from a seeing person

What I'd like to know:

For the last couple of decades I see people using the sweeping motion when walking. However, when I see a video or movie made before then people would use a tapping motion instead. What's the story behind that?

I thought canes were required to be specific colors? Like red, white, and black?
