A jet engine is a turbine. All thats happening here is fuel mixed in.

A car turbos job is to increase pressurised air (psi) into the engine(more air means you can add more fuel which means more exhaust which means more air and so on). It works by the exhaust air spinning the turbine and the turbine drawing more air in. There are simple illustrations and videos online to educate.

A jet engine(turbine) is the same principle made more complicated. It's layers of turbines that get more and more compressed and is also the propulsion part of the machine.

A turbo on a car is only for increased air not propulsion
