Why is PRL Motorsports, LLC doing this to the Honda Civic ‘FL5’ Type R? SEMA Certification will allow their performance parts to be 49 state legal and then also PRL can get CARB certification for California. This means that your high volume intake, intercooler, turbo charger, and lead pipe will all be fully tested and will not cause any emission codes or check engine lights. This process takes weeks and the car gets tested under many different driving situations. All manufacturers who design and build CARB legal parts must go through the same steps.. Can’t slap a CARB legal sticker on something that hasn’t been rigorously tested to meet the standards.

Does this mean for us California FL5 owners that have PRL intake, pipes, intercooler that we don't have to be scared of being pulled over and get reffed anymore? Hopefully most of the parts get CARB approved, this state is terrible for modding cars.

I plan on getting my FL5 this April or May. So excited. Planning on getting AWE Touring Exaust but I have yet to hear it in person. I live in south Chicago, so I don't want to be that guy with the loud honda 😂
