I was a police officer for over 27 years. I was a certified Field Training Officer, Juvenile Officer, Crime Prevention Officer, Firearms Instructor, etc. I retired as a Watch Commander. What you are seeing here is an example of a training failure. You cannot, shall not and MUST NOT VIOLATE the civil rights of a citizen because you want to go fishing. This is the type of coercive citizen interaction that widens the divide between us and the citizens we police. Horrible policing...

Extending the traffic stop past the time for original stop has ended is a violation of Rodriguez v USA. The cop should know this is well established Supreme Court precedence and lose qualified immunity! Sue him!
