Oh I was expecting to hear in your video how that kind of piano sounds, maybe for the next time ;)

Wow that is some size of piano! Magnificent.  UK readers should perhaps note that the term Upright Grand was used differently by English piano makers in the late 1800s.  Cheap and nasty parlour pianos,  churned out  in 'cottage workshops' and made to very poor standards, often had black and gold transfers stuck on the fall or key slip rail saying "Upright Grand" or "Upright Iron Grand" of "Full Trichord Upright Grand" or similar.  If you are buying a used piano in the UK, run from any that have these transfer labels. They are twice the age a piano lives (and therefore dead) and they were horrid even when brand new in 1880.  A different animal entirely from the phenomenal Schubert piano in this video!

I was told the Yamaha U3 is considered an upright (baby?) grand, but the piano behind you is far larger. Pretty subjective term I guess. Really like your videos.

Just to confuse the issue, instrument maker David Klavins' largest creation is a 450cm upright piano.

That piano needs new strings and hammers. That's probably why Robert didn't play it.

perfectly said, there is a massive difference between an upright or upright grand, as well as upright grands were far more expensive

This should have your cue to briefly enlighten viewers to the disadvantages of abstract/sticker actions, which plagued most of the huge uprights ca. 1900

Ladies are like pianos, if they're not upright, they're grand.

my 1899 upright piano is over 5 feet tall, is this considered a grand?

Confusing terminology, albeit I suppose it's no worse than the word "piano" itself. I mean, what happened to the "forte" part? Family members who have to put up with piano practice probably think the instrument is more forte than piano. ;)

Love your videos. I have a Steinway 1915 Model F 4'5 1/2" with upper front Marquetry. Is that an example of an upright grand?

I have a John Broadwood upright grand, I think made in 1930, it's 4 ft tall and 5 ft wide is this definitely an upright grand?
