Math 205 JW Lecture 7 - Limits; Infinite Limits; Limits at Infinity and Continuity intro
Показать описание
Welcome to lecture 7 of Math 205 JW - Elements of Calculus.
In tonight's lecture, we look at more limits! We explore the concepts of what it means to take a limit and go over the strategy for approaching **any** limit problem. We then look at limits that give +/- infinity as the answer (infinite limits) and limits where we let the x approach infinity (or -infinity) (limits at infinity).
We then explore the concept of continuity. The property of a graph, in some region, to be drawn without lifting your pencil off the page. We talk about this notion both intuitively, and then determine exactly when it happens based on limits. We will look more at this in the next lecture.
Continuity is important because we can only do calculus on parts of a curve that are continuous (and even then, not always!).
In the next lecture, we will talk more about continuity, determining where a function is continuous and more limits!
