EV is only feasible if you have a good average run per month.. like they said 3000km per month.. else petrol is better

40 lakhs ICE car is anyway not purchased with the ROI mindset. Generally status or luxury purposes.

I'm waiting for 1st gen EV owners to rant about the battery replacement costs.
They saved all the money to pay at one go for battery replacement 😅.

Upfront cost paid doesn’t justify the savings on the fuel bills

Not to mention the anxiety of not finding a charging station in time 😂

EV is feasible when you charge it at home with your own solar panels, which many in Germany with an home of their own have.

Nexon EV - 15 lakh
Nexon ICE- 9 lakh

Extra cost - 6 lakh

Avg Km/month - 1000km

EV @ Rs. 1/km - Rs. 1000
Per year - Rs. 12, 000
For 5 year -Rs. 60, 000

ICE @ Rs. 10/km - Rs. 10, 000
Per year - Rs. 120, 000
For 5 year -Rs. 600, 000

*Total cost (Excluding Repair and Maintenance)

EV- Rs. 15, 60, 000
ICE- Rs. 15, 00, 000

** Considering the price 15 lakh car will have a higher EMI and interest as compared to a 9 lakh car.

**Also After 5 years Battery replacement cost Rs. 6, 00, 000

In the present circumstances, economizing on fuel costs might not be practical. I speak from experience—I covered 360 km, recharging my car cost me around 1200rs. It's stressful dealing with unexpected battery drain, especially with AC usage. Finding recharge centers becomes a challenge with a range remaining below 100 km. While it's worthwhile in the city, we'll have to wait until recharge centre’s are more accessible, perhaps every 10 km, for it to make sense elsewhere."

A man blew up Tesla model because they quoted $30, 000 for battery replacement.

No one talks about,
1. how long it takes to charge so one gets back on the road sooner,
2. how batteries dont work well in chilly conditions and extreme hot days,
3. How batteries deplete over 6-7 years,
4. If a battery catches fire, no fire system puts it off till battery goes out of fuel,
5. If you get stranded, you can’t fill your bottle with electric charge and get it back ON.

While Hybrids make so much sense, these guys would sit on a cozy chair discussing ROIs because they really are business men. Who are too rich to abandon their EV and call for a backup car.

I live in Scandinavia. Harsh winter and I travel around 40000km per year. I prefer traveling in comfort but not necessarily to be in luxury. Need to draw a trailer sometimes, because of my bad knee, vehicle should be a SUV. When I consider all these, all of a sudden the cost of car would be around 100, 000 $. For less than half of it, I can buy a really good diesel SUV. As I change my vehicle every two or three year, financial loss would be much higher with an EV.

How many cars run 3000 kms a month? That’s right 1%

No one tells you it will also be 30 minutes of fuel refill vs 30 hours of charging every month💀

Simple math : Pay 50% extra upfront to save money on fuel cost 😂

Avg. time taken to break even will be 5-7 years (by that time you might need a battery change or upgrade to a new car) 😅

I think we don't have a proper infra (power stations everywhere) for ev's in india yet. Ev's will make sense after 3 to 4 years in India ig...

I have brought an 2 wheeler EV.
Ola s1pro.
Have ran it 8, 400 kms in 8 months.
I have saved thousands on petrol.
Whereas by far have paid only 1100 for electric charging.
The maintenance has been astonishingly 0 absolutely and it runs too damn good with the best of comfort.
Problems:
The built quality is very weak.
Charging time is 5/6hours

People buy EV for comfort, NVH, democratising acceleration. Monetary benefit is purely psychological unless the prices come down.
Resale value is another story. It will depreciate in line with electronic devices.
