I've known about taping batteries for a long time but I've never seen a demonstration like that before. Certainly hammers home the point. Thanks. Congrats on 10K. Appreciate all your great videos Mike!

I once owned a very quiet mid ‘60s Epiphone Frontier with an even bigger pickguard. Sounded great recorded, but very quiet. Someone removed all the innards of the adjustable bridge and installed a rosewood piece which was slotted for a 3/33” bone saddle. One day, my curiosity got the best of me and I decided to remove the puck guard and let all that suppressed volume come out. Having done this before on a J-50, I was confident, but I broke the guard removing it. After extensive elbow grease on the residual glue it was time for the tone test . . . and - NO INCREASE in volume!
My opinion is that the quality of spruce was below sub par. I’ve played ‘60s Texans (not every one, though) that the tone just bounced out of, but this Frontier was a dud for most aspects of guitar playing. Trying to make a J-45 sound like a Martin probably isn’t going to happen, but some of them sound good despite all the supposed strikes against them from a design perspective. Good for Mississippi Delta Blues, at least.

Not a bad idea but those batteries should be collected and taken to a drop-off box to go to a recycling center rather than end up in the trash, and a landfill. I'm sure they have such a thing up in Canada.

Thanks again for another great video Mike. I've watched most of your vids, have you shown your process for removing a bridge plate? I can't remember one and would love to see it.

Thanks for the heads up on the batteries. You know I am a fan, you are one of the best I have ever seen. Somewhere I heard of guitars being appraised, not sure what model of Gibson it was, but with the original bridge plate it was worth 35, 000, if it was replaced 3, 500. Do you think that was B.S.? I know those old plywood ones are junk and if a top gets bulged out or warped can mess them up too, not to mention regular wear and tear. I have even seen luthiers use over sized ones to straighten out tops, which IMO is better than those bridge doctors. Just wondering what your take is on it.
