I had the fuel pump in my 97 corolla give out over the weekend. Cost me $50 to replace it. I have a feeling that it was near 30 years old as it was denso branded. Some may turn their nose up at a car like mine, but it'll probably outlast all the vehicles on that Stellantis lot.

People are looking for a Jeep that doesn't blow the oil cooler twice before 60K miles, like my neighbor's did.
They are also looking for a Jeep Wrangler that doesn't cost $50K for a just above base model.

Stellantis has absolutely destroyed its North American brands. I had a 2019 Wrangler Rubicon that I bought LOADED for 51K - that same model is now $66K for 2024! It's the SAME vehicle! Insane.

Re: 'affordable' cars - I agree with all of the cars recommended, but a note on the Sonata: I was in Ohio for a trip last fall, and I requested a Camry LE for a rental car, and there was none available, but they offered me a Hyundai Sonata. I was impressed in that it felt and drove like a mid to higher trim level - it was a very nice and comfortable car. To my surprise, when I got back to the hotel, I looked up the car on Hyundai's site. My rental car was a BASE model, at the price in the high 20's. If I were in the market for a sedan, the Sonata would definitely be on my list.

The best new car is a clean used Lexus with 100k+ miles on it for $12, 000. Or a used Grand Cherokee 5 years old for $16, 000 that was $50k when new. Yes… it is possible.
