If you have created a Proxmox Cluster, you are likely at some point to need to remove a node from that cluster. Don't just reformat the machine before you follow these steps to make sure you have successfully removed the node, or you may have undeletable tasks.

Yes, please, more about SDN, especially EVPN-VXLAN to distribute a subnet across a cluster.

You can install proxmox backup server on bare metal on the Node without removing it from its main job of being a node. You're not using that entire server for PBS are you? It's so damn lightweight

But anyway this video is what I needed for another reason

Very nice, thank you! Why is the removed node icon still in the datacenter pane?

Hello thanks so much for posting this troubleshooting video. I have a situation currently and I know the answer is in the video but I’m not sure the exact method for my particular issue.

I have an issue in proxmox with HA. I had a node move to another host migrate, but the disc volume did not go with it. I shared the local ZFS drives as you should. These are also the ZFS Storage drives that proxmox was originally installed on Each node has the ZFS storage, but doesn’t have the data from the migrated node. Only the information from the VM that was created on that node. So, when I try to migrate it back to the original node, it says no link to original volume. I was in the midst of setting up HA but didn’t quite get to the storage configuration yet. I’m surprise the node even moved I don’t think it actually did complete because there was errors and errored out so I had to disable it. I tried to migrate it back, but could not same issue missing disk vol plus USB external connection. All data is intact. The disk is still on the original node, but the VM appears to be on another note. No back up or snapshots yet. I’m still working on that and i’m learning and quite new at this. I was in the process of setting up a three new cluster. Hi availability with cef storage. Thanks so much for any advice or assistance I would Much appreciate it. I’m stuck!

Will this work fine if the master node is removed from the cluster?

So is it impossible to run the removed node as a standalone proxmox node, as it was before it joined the cluster, on the same network?? It sounds like once a node is removed, it's essentially trashed and can't be used on the same network again. Example: I add a node to a master cluster and then decide 'nope, that was a bad idea, I'd prefer that node to remain standalone.

Part of me feels like if you remove a node, there's got to be a way to run that removed node on the same network by removing some 'stuff' via shelling into the removed node to revert it back to it's original 'standalone' status ?? Or is that really not the case.

I feel like you have already made changes to the votes of each node to hold a quorum.. just removing a node without changing the votes (either required # of votes or the value of a vote from a node) to offset the lost node would still be needed no? I feel like I have got myself in a situation over quorum before.

A few notes
1. At 5:35 the error message mentions CS_ERR_NOT_EXISTS and kills node6 instead. How is that success
2. You (as all the others showing a procedure like that) always have the scenario where the node isn t going to be used in the cluster again ).
Well what about if you need to fix the server and re join him (changing motherboard or whatever that reason might be).
None ever shows that. Not using the node is the easy scenario.
