Hearts of Iron IV Specialized Division Design Guide - The sixth and final entry in our HoI4 War College course on division design goes over how to design effective special forces, tank destroyer, and land-based anti-air divisions.

I was thinking paratroopers would be good with support artillery, support rocket artillery, support anti tank and support anti air, as these give you a bunch of extra stats and can be paradropped?

I feel that, although special divisions for AT and AA purposes are awesome, it is just much more effective to go with infantry AT and AA divisions, since HOI4 is not about having the best equipment, but enough.
Looking at the games I've played, the AI always seems to spam divisions. As Soviets I had 200 against a Germany that had 500. WTF??
So now I just use ART to hold the front, which is (in high numbers) enough to keep even tanks at bay. Simply blast the enemy away WW1 style.
I then make one 20 width, 24 div, Medium Tank army to break through their lines.

if you're going hTD... I'd rather just stick one on regular(if I have the reasources)/chokepoint(40 combat width) infantrybecause adding ONE heavy tank grants SOO much. oh odd number? stick in a towed artilary/anti air for good mesure.

I know this video is pretty old, but why not using logistics for the TD division, 'cause they go heavy on consumption and using them on frontline means many divisions in the same province -> heavy on logistics

Great series. I've learned and enjoyed a lot from them. Much appreciated.

One thing regarding the AA specialised template tho, didn't they only deal casualties to enemy CAS when the specific unit with AA or SPAA engage battle where enemy CAS is also doing missions. So it would not shoot down any planes when it is just garrisoned, and would not shoot down fighters or planes doing strategic bombing in any situations.

Nevertheless great series! Hope you'll continue to make more of them

I noticed on the heavy tank destroyer division design that the support companies significantly reduced the piercing value - is that significant, or does that only really matter vs. heavy tanks?

I have a late game mountaineer division which been very successful and I would like to know your thoughts? 6 mountaineers, 1 heavy tank, 2 heavy sp arty. Supports, engineers, recon, support arty, hospital, signal or logistics. Doctrines varies between firepower and battleplan mostly.

At the beginning of the game, when a naval invasion is limited to 10 divisions, would it make sense to make your Marines 40 wide plus logistics, so your measly 10 units invasion would be, well, less measly?

what I do most of the times, is to stick one mountaineer in a 20 wide infantry unit, to boost movement, attack and defense in difficult areas. a good move?
