Thank you. I wish to also point out the difference between finding a therapist yourself and the disaster that a social worker "helping you" to find a therapist can cause. My last four years of hell were also due to social workers who said they were trauma-informed, read lots of information about me, and then would match me with a therapist. These social workers would further take away my sense of agency by saying that "as there is such a shortage I should be grateful this person wants to work with me". Every single one of their choices was a disaster that nearly killed me as I lost so much of what I call therapy resilience that I nearly died last year. Since then I heard from a friend with DID about a local therapist who has experience with DID and so I found her email address and built an email report with her. Have now been seeing her for about 5 months and I am finally in what I call proper therapy and able to process again. The biggest lesson in that hell that I learned was that I can trust my intuition, (still a learning curve), that sadly agency still can be lost and that it is vital to find ways to get it back, and to get it back means doing some stuff myself. Also I 💯% agree that a mixture of what they can do is the most helpful.

This is a great explanation. We've had our support team explain the distinctions to us multiple times before and we always forget, so a reminder is always nice, and this will be amazingly helpful for people who don't yet have a therapist at all.

This is a very important video, thank you. A lot of therapies say they are 'trauma-informed' yet do have limits in their scope- however not all therapies make certain to check if they are acutely trained to provide the right service of care for specific people.

THANK YOU🎉. I ❤️ Informational well Organized videos! With so much opinions out there disguised as professional information is hard to make informed decisions when it comes to Mental Health specially with us folks who have some form of dissociation disorder😊💕

Unfortunately some amateurs work with "therapies" without knowing what they do. In meeting "image therapy" I had a really difficult time. Many people have been very naive about this therapy form that dives so deep into the "subconcious".

Its vg

Great to have a registration body to complain to... but be aware that this process can be long, formal, opaque, invalidating, frustrating, and a waste of time.

Dr. Mike, lovely information as usual, I have a question about your professional opinion on those with DID seeking to become a professional? Could you give advice on this? My inspiration for this question is my admiration for Jamie Marich.

Yeah if you have cash. Most therapists dont understand dissociation esp. DID where altars front.

Lots of “trauma coaches” here in the US practicing therapy. Pretty scary.
