While the dwarves of the company of Thorin Oakenshield longed to return home to Erebor, a story of their tale to come was crafted. . . and with good company! Unfortunately, they did not have the deep vocals of Geoff Castellucci to warm their hearts. Oh how his voice rippling through Bag End would sound!

Join professional opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff, as she listens to Geoff Castellucci performing "Far Over The Misty Mountains Cold” for the first time.

Thank you for sharing this with your audience! There's a lot of wonderful insight here that not many folks would pick up on, it's like a mini masterclass. (And also thank you for liking it 😬)

the way Elizabeth giggles, like a little school girl who's talking to her crush, is both adorable and hillarious at the same time.

I love how she just dissolves into giggles when Geoff holds a low, resonant note.

This, *this*, is what Bilbo must have heard while falling asleep. The resonance, the emotion, the single mournful string...

Elizabeth: "The delicacy of his high harmony here is just astonishing!"
The G1 waiting a second and a half later: *_UNPAUSE ME._*

Geoff's low notes with the volume up in the headphones is like an actual brain massage.

The depth on "gold" grew an immediate beard on my face

When he hit that low note at the end it reminded me of Gimli blowing the horn at Helm's Deep.

Her giddy giggles at Geoff's impressive earth-deep notes just tickle me. 😆 🥰Madam, in that moment you were all of us.

The man who wrote this comment on Geoff's original post is still winning the comments!

This man’s voice is deeper than the mines of Moria!!!

Who better to embody the primordial power of an ancient mountain than a man whose voice sounds like two tectonic plates rubbing together? The song also benefits from Geoff's gift for strong minimalist arrangement which gets a bit under-appreciated as people salivate over his vocal abilities. But, who better to salivate over such a voice than the Bob Ross of Bass, the Willy Wonka of Windpipes, the inimitable Battle Bard and Unicorn Goddess, Elizabeth Zharoff! That look of delight on her face is priceless! Ahhh! Is it tomorrow yet??!!

The only thing better than hearing Geoff sing is watching Elizabeth reacting to Geoff singing. Her joy and wonder is just infectious.

When the Dwarves went as deep as Geoff, they woke the Balrog...Durin's Bane!

I did what you requested!!! We played this song on a huge sound system, full line arrays and subs on the floor. AT FULL Volume!!! The walls were vibrating. We heard rattles all over the auditorium. My job includes building and tuning big sound systems and this song is now on my list to run a "shake-down" cruise on the subs.

I love her giggling. You can see how this is golden ale running down her ears.

J R R Tolkien wrote the lyrics . The song is in the book the hobbit. The way it is interpreted and performed with deep bass dwarf voices echoing in caves is really cool.

In the book The Hobbit, Tolkein described the the dwarves pulling out violins, large violins as big as them (so probably cellos) flutes, a drum and Thorien had a harp. The simple instrumental fits perfectly with what Tolkein was going for imo.

There is just something about low voices that just resonates with people. (Pun very much intended). High notes are for your ears to hear. Low notes are for your heart to hear.

I love the comment on the original video that says Geoff doesn't have vocal cords, he has tectonic plates... 😊

I love how she melts at the low notes! We get a nose crinkle as well.
