*Verses on SHIRK in the HOLY QURAN*

*NISA Chapter 4 Verse 116*
إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَغْفِرُ أَنْ يُشْرَكَ بِهِ وَيَغْفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ ۚ وَمَنْ يُشْرِكْ بِاللَّهِ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ ضَلَالًا بَعِيدًا
*MEANING: Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills. And he who associates others with Allah has certainly gone far astray.*
*TRANSLITERATION: Innalla_ha la_ yagfiru ay yusyraka bihi wa yagfiru ma_ du_na za_lika lamay yasya, wa may yusyrik billa_hi faqad dalla dala_lam ba'ida.*

*NISA Chapter 4 Verse 48*
إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَغْفِرُ أَنْ يُشْرَكَ بِهِ وَيَغْفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ ۚ وَمَنْ يُشْرِكْ بِاللَّهِ فَقَدِ افْتَرَىٰ إِثْمًا عَظِيمًا
*TRANSLATION: Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills. And he who associates others with Allah has certainly fabricated a tremendous sin.*
*TRANLITERATION: Innalla_ha la_ yagfiru ay yusyraka bihi wa yagfiru ma_ du_na za_lika lamay yasya, wa may yusyrik billa_hi faqad iftara itman atheema.*

*AL ZUMAR Chapter 39 Verse 65*
وَلَقَدْ أُوحِيَ إِلَيْكَ وَإِلَی الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِكَ لَئِنْ أَشْرَكْتَ لَيَحْبَطَنَّ عَمَلُكَ وَلَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ
*MEANING: And indeed it has been revealed to you as it was to those [Messengers] before you: “If you join others in worship with Allah, surely your deeds will be in vain and you will certainly be among the losers.*
*TRANSLITERATION: Wa laqad u_hiya ilaika wa ilal lazina min qablik la in asrakta layahbatana amaluka wa lataku_nan na minal kha_sirin*

*AL KAHF Chapter 18 Verse 104*
الَّذِينَ ضَلَّ سَعْيُهُمْ فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَهُمْ يَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّهُمْ يُحْسِنُونَ صُنْعًا
*MEANING : Those whose efforts have been wasted in this life while they thought that they were acquiring good by their works?*
*TRANSLITERATION: Allatheena dalla saAAyuhum fee alhayati alddunya wahum yahsaboona annahum yuhsinoona sunAAan.*

*YUNUS Chapter 10 Verse 106*
وَلَا تَدْعُ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ مَا لَا يَنْفَعُكَ وَلَا يَضُرُّكَ ۖ فَإِنْ فَعَلْتَ فَإِنَّكَ إِذًا مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ
*TRANSLATION: And worship not besides Allah that which can neither profit you nor harm you. Then if you do, then at that time thou would not be of the unjust.*
*TRANSLITERATION: Wa laa tad'u min doonil laahi maa laa yanfa'uka wa laa yadurruka fa in fa'alta fa innaka izam minaz zaalimeen.*

*AL GHAFIR Chapter 40 Verse 60*
وَقَالَ رَبُّكُمُ ادْعُونِي أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ عَنْ عِبَادَتِي سَيَدْخُلُونَ جَهَنَّمَ دَاخِرِينَ
*MEANING:Your Lord has said, "Pray to Me for I shall answer you prayers. Those who are too proud to worship Me will soon go to hell in disgrace".*
*TRANSLITERATION: Waqala rabbukumu odAAoonee astajib lakum inna allatheena yastakbiroona AAan AAibadatee sayadkhuloona jahannama dakhireen*

*LUQMAAN Chapter 31 Verse 13*
وَإِذْ قَالَ لُقْمَانُ لِابْنِهِ وَهُوَ يَعِظُهُ يَا بُنَيَّ لَا تُشْرِكْ بِاللَّهِ ۖ إِنَّ الشِّرْكَ لَظُلْمٌ عَظِيمٌ
*MEANING: And [mention, O Muhammad], when Luqman said to his son while he was instructing him, "O my son, do not associate [anything] with Allah . Indeed, association [with him] is great injustice."*
*TRANSLITERATION: Wa iz qa_la luqma_nu libnihi wa huwa yaizuhu_ ya_bunay ya la_ tusrik bil la_h in nas sirka lazhulmun azim.*

*AL MAIDA Chapter 5 Verse 72*
قَدْ كَفَرَ الَّذِينَ قَالُواْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الْمَسِيحُ ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ وَقَالَ الْمَسِيحُ يَابَنِى إِسْرَءِيلَ اعْبُدُواْ اللَّهَ رَبُّى وَرَبَّكُمْ إِنَّهُ مَن يُشْرِكْ بِاللَّهِ فَقَدْ حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيهِ الْجَنَّةَ وَمَأْوَاهُ النَّارُ وَمَا لِلظَّـلِمِينَ مِنْ أَنصَارٍ
*MEANING: Surely, they have disbelieved who say: “Allah is the Messiah, son of Maryam.’” But the Messiah said: “O Children of Israel! Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord.” Verily, whosoever sets up partners (in worship) with Allah, then Allah has forbidden Paradise for him, and the Fire will be his abode. And for the wrongdoers there are no helpers.*
*TRANSLITERATION: Laqad kafaral lazina qa_lu_ innalla_ha huwal masihubnu maryam(a), wa qa_lal masihu ya_ bani isra_'ila'budulla_ha rabbi wa rabbakum, innahu_ may yusyrik billa_hi faqad harramalla_hu 'alaihil jannata wa ma'wa_hun na_r(u), wa ma_ liz za_limina min ansa_r(in).*

I once met a muslim who was only one by name, which astounished me as she explained she liked to keep a “balance” between praying only maghrib and doing a few small things and engaging in haram things such as drinking. I knew there were people like this but I never thougt I’d meet one who was so open about it. I really don’t understand why some muslims insist on this, and I hope to never find out as my Iman in more important to me. And I do also hope to set an example for people such as that sister
