Speak your Finnish

Here are five ways to improve your speaking skills in a foreign language:

1. Practice with Native Speakers: Engage in conversations with native speakers, either in person or through language exchange apps, to improve fluency and get used to authentic speech patterns.

2. Focus on Pronunciation: Use language learning apps, online videos, or pronunciation guides to perfect your accent and ensure you’re understood clearly.

3. Think in the Foreign Language: Start thinking in the language you're learning, rather than translating from your native language, to help improve your speed and fluency.

4. Expand Your Vocabulary: Regularly learn new words and phrases, especially those used in daily conversations, to help express yourself better in real-life situations.

5. Record and Listen to Yourself: Record yourself speaking, then listen to the playback to identify areas where you can improve pronunciation, fluency, or grammar.

Minä katson sinun videoita joka päivä. Ne auttavat minua paljon.
Toivon että sinä aiot tehdä series videoita samasta aiheesta, koska ne auttavat muistamaan sanoja paremmin.
Kiitos paljon❤

You are so right! I am just starting to study Finnish, and I'm enjoying it so much! The first language I learned was Mandarin Chinese, and I can speak it fluently now, still make mistakes, but you just have to have fun with it and enjoy learning through the mistakes and know that even if you make mistakes, most of the time people still understand what you're trying to say. You're communicating, and that's what language is all about. Love your videos! It would be great to have a video on how to pronounce the different vowels and hear them used in different words, or hear them compared to other similar sounding vowels (a/ä or y/o/ö for example). Just an idea from a newbie :]

I just love studying finnish and enjoy it very much ❤ Honestly, to me it is a tribute to my isoisä who fought in WWII up in the north of Finnland… maybe he knew some finnish words as well? :-)
