The "TC-ANK" aircraft carrying President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made the first landing at Istanbul New Airport, the world's largest airport built from scratch, on 21 June 2018.
The "TC-ANK" aircraft, with President Erdoğan in the cockpit during the landing, landed on the first runway, which is 3,750 metres long and 60 metres wide and all operations have been completed.
President Erdoğan was welcomed at Istanbul New Airport by Ahmet Arslan, Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, pilots, stewardesses, hostesses and airport workers. President Erdoğan greeted the ceremonial squad after watching the aircraft pass between two fire trucks spraying water in the water jewellery show, which is an aviation tradition due to the fact that the aircraft landed at the airport for the first time.
