The Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and Russia's President Vladimir Putin have underscored their close links with ice cream as they opened a major Russian air show.

Erdoğan was Putin's guest of honour at the opening of the MAKS aviation show outside Moscow. The two leaders stopped at an ice cream stand for refreshments and Erdoğan was heard asking Putin, 'Will you pay for me?', to which Putin responded: 'Of course, you're my guest.'

These two are 2 different sentences in meaning.

The difference is that Erdoğan is not asking that out of curiosity or is not asking for Putin to “help” him but instead he's CONFIRMING that he's paying for him(so by that, Erdoğan is claiming him to pay for himself).
