HiRISE Mars 4K (NASA): Along the Path of Mr. K

This image covers a small section of Hebes Chasma. There were large, west-facing recurring slope lineae features caught in a previous image, so the purpose of this observation was to see if those formations could be confirmed.

Mr. K, or Yll, is a character in Ray Bradbury’s “The Martian Chronicles”. This terrain would have been very difficult and lengthy to traverse in his fateful meeting with Captain Nathaniel York.

This is a non-narrated clip with ambient sound. Image is less than 5 km (3 mi) across and the spacecraft altitude was 266 km (165 mi). For full images including scale bars, visit the source link.
