HiRISE Mars 4K (NASA): Kull wahad!

preview_player
Показать описание
This observation features a very large dune field near the center of an unnamed impact crater. The array of spots are likely the result of sublimation, when solid material (ice) transforms directly into a gaseous state (by the sun) and exposes the darker material. The spots will fade over time, but can be replaced by newer incidents of sublimation.

“Kull wahad!” is a phrase from the “Dune” books by Frank Hebert, meaning “I am profoundly stirred!”

This is a non-narrated clip with ambient sound. Image is less than 5 km (3 mi) across and the spacecraft altitude was 252 km (156 mi). For full images including scale bars, visit the source link.
