On my professionally picture calibrated 65 inch 4K TV it is easy to see the iPhone is very oversharpened. The colors look closer to the fake coloring used in candy. The Sony delivers a natural picture which looks much like it would look to you if you were there in person. It does not change reality but delivers it if that makes sense.

iphone footage suffers from oversharpening where sony goes with that mirrorless camera soft look.

I am extremely shocked with how the Xperia's footage looks straight out of a movie, very cinematic and natural looking although I dislike the purple tone in the shadows

Xperia is the bost for me i dont like the processed picture coz processed photo it some time limit you on editing but for the natural one is much better ❤❤ sony for the life time

But the xperia can do this with all lenses
No phone can beat the Xperia camera

I've just ordered my Sony Xperia 1V pre-order deal with Sony headphones WH-1000XM5 included for free in EU. I am gonna sell WH-1000XM5 headphones as I already have Bose QC that are not that old and perform almost as good as those new Sony headphones. The sales rep had this Xperia 1V 'under the desk' - they gave them one already to learn and test it - the videos and photos he had taken around town where I live were simply amazing. I also had an opportunity to play with this phone for a while in store, and check how it fits in my pocket, etc. What I love, and what you have not mentioned at all is that you get 12GB RAM, and 256GB disk by default, and you can extend that with a micro sd memory for up to 1TB! There is a dual SIM tray, audio mini-jack port, and the phone is super light compated with iphone 13 and 14 PRO. I like the weight balance of that Xperia, and I can't say the same thing about newest iPhone. I had iPhone 13 Pro before. I get your point regarding the ecosystem - fortunately here in EU we are not that much 'locked' in the Apple ecosystem, the best way I think if you take a lot of photos / videos is to use the fast micro memory card like 512GB and have a card reader at your desk. Dropbox is also a solution. What I didn't like about my iPhone 13Pro is the photo format, I could not open it on windows back then, it required a conversion. I highly recommend this Xperia, Sony has done a great job in my opinion.

Comparing both phone doesn't really makes sense as the Xperia 1-V is targeting photographers, videographers, musicians specifically. Basically it is a content creation studio with phone capabilities. The iPhone has many of the same features but is targeted at the general public.
The Xperia interface is not for the general public it will provide s steep learning curve for those who have never shot on a tradition (Sony) camera.
The iPhone is easy to use for all.
In my view the Xperia is great for people who own or have owned a Sony camera. If you don't go for the iPhone
Additionally the Xperia is only being patched for 2 yrs and it is expensive

But I feel you need to add a HUGE caveat to what you are being only if someone is in the Apple eco-system. You are saying what you are with the assumption that a person is using an Apple laptop. For someone like me who most certainly is not in the Apple eco-system and does not use their laptops.... it's obviously going to be the Xperia. And the advantages you cite are only so if you are already deep in the Apple eco-system and using their other devices. For someone like me loves photography and needs and wants manual control I could care less about Apple's eco-system.

Also, I feel Apple has a fair degree of cheek calling their device "PRO". Sony does not call the mark V "Pro" even though it has what can be considered more pro features such as manual control, physical expandable storage, a shutter button, and a headphone jack. The very FACT that the iphone has no manual control, no physical expandable storage, headphone it is not a pro level device. That's just BS marketing. It's a bit like saying you are a race car you can't drive manual....lol. Well....then you are not much of a race car driver now are you?

I have the xperia 1v, that 24mm 40+ megapixel gets cropped zooming in to 3.4x then binned down to 12MP. 85mm lens starts as 3.5x zoom

There is only 1x, 3x and ultra wide lenses on the iPhone. The 2x is just a digital zoom funktion.

I will just get the Xperia because everyone is using iphone these days.

Oh and the sony has no front punch hole, has a head phone jack, looks minimalist and more professional. It also has expandable storage via a sd card slot.
