The difference between Telegram's E2E and Matrix E2E is the data sent is encrypted and is stored that way on the server, only the recipient with decryption keys can decrypt it

2:13 Telegram does not do End-to-End Encryption (E2EE) at all for group chats, and Telegram doesn't even make E2EE the default for regular messages. This is a significant improvement over Telegrams MTProto (similar to SSL/TLS) with at-rest encryption.

Bridged my Classic Need for Speed Discord server to Matrix a couple of years ago. It's very flexible, and it will be even more like Discord soon with communities 2.0, now called spaces.

I just installed KAOS-- and it has NEOCHAT by kde- says it can chat to MATRIX-- so does that mean I can talk to those on matrix that are on other services too? I'm totally new to this kind of stuff. I"m joining some groups soon and need to learn how-- is that basically how this works?

As part of a retro computing community Matrix has allowed older systems to communicate with modern systems. I can use a +20 year old PDA running an IRC client to message Discord and other modern applications lol.
