This video is part 1 of 4 for the E2 Beta-elimination reaction. This video gives you a detailed overview of the reaction concept, rate, mechanism and molecular orientation for anti-coplanar with a Newman Projection analysis.

My complete substitution/elimination video series can be found on my website using this link:

You can also find many more substitution and elimination problems with video explanations in my membership site

I also offer private online tutoring where you can work directly with me to learn the answers to your specific questions and difficulties.

this lecture is as close to perfection as you can get.
Absolutely amazing, how you cover so many important concepts while teaching the backbone of E2 reaction mech.
You deserve a medal! :D

Can I just say your explanations of these complex concepts is phenomenal!
I am recommending your channel to my whole orgo squad! #OrgoLife

This is the only thing that has helped me understand these reactions so far, including other youtube videos.

This is exactly what I needed...! Thank you sooo much for this! Much more succinct than my professor or TA, and simultaneously more clear, thank you! I had no idea why the solvent was of any significance in eliminations, this cleared it up

You are brilliant! I now understand this reaction! I have gone to another tutor and I did not understand what they were saying. You explained it so very clearly. You have talent, you are the best!

In your other videos, the '2' type reaction was only for polar aprotic solvents and E1 and SN1 was polar protic. Could you explain why in E2, it would no longer be polar aprotic?

what is the biggest way to differentiate e2 from sn2 other than heat?

Ma'am at 5:14 you said that methanol being a polar protic solvent can cage a nucleophile....
Can it not cage a base?? Will the activity of that base not affected due to the presence of polar protic solvent?
