How to make a website: CSS Tutorial - Basics. This is the second in a series of videos designed to teach the basics of CSS. This video will demonstrate the universal, type, class, and ID selectors. This tutorial is based on CSS version 2.1.

This is a good video series for those wishing to learn how to make a website from scratch. Whether you're using a basic text editor, or more advance tools like Adobe Dreamweaver, learning the basics of CSS will provide a good foundation to build on.

you did not mention the difference between the .class and #id, which is that you can use a class many times in a web page, and the id you can only use once ;) - for the people watching this

I have been learning CSS and have watched a number of different videos on YouTube.  Each one explains various topics but yours is the first I found that gives me the background I need.  For instance, other beginning vidz used the asterisk and the class period in the examples but did not explain what they were for.  You did.  Thanks.

I have a little HTML understanding…that being said…I feel that I was right in line with you up to the point where you started explaining how type, .class, and #id work, but I didn't feel that I fully understood what each would be used for.  I understand that there are more than one way to accomplish the same goal (for instance aligning text and turning it red), but each of these options seems that it would work optimally toward a goal (like using a CSS to deal with over 100 <h1> lines within a page)...
