Hey Robert. I just ordered the S5 thanks to your insight and Patrick Tomasso's reviews. I plan to also use it for weddings. It's on sale right now.. a great deal. I bought it as a kit with the 85 1.8, I'm very excited

Bro thank you so much for this video. I’m this is exactly my experience renting the S5 and is why I bought one. The whole conversation about the focusing and face detect is honestly SUCH A JOY! I love my A7iii, but the S5 user experience especially on that note of faces and choosing your focus point is everything to me. Also a wedding / elopement photographer here. Cheers brother!

thank youf or making this, this makes me confident switching to an s5 in the future. i have an a7iii and a bmpcc4k that I like both of, but I do find value in having 1 camera that can do all my work. especially since the s5 can do braw through the HDMI port.

Interesting video. I follow you thoughts and needs, completely and it makes a lot of sense.
I followed a couple of wedding Photographers (e.g. Adorama's) video's and didn't mind the bla bla hehehe, but looked at their camera's and lenses in particular.
Now, like you, I see them use 24/28 - 70/105 zooms to cover the whole range of situations and for Portrait/DoF they use a fast prime around 85 which is totally logical.
But I never hear them say, I use this lens cause IN COMBINATION with my camera, it gives me the best autofocus performance. (cause it is always a combination)
But they sometimes complain about the autofocus so it's like having a problem that bugs you, but don't do anything about it.
IMO there is no "suite all your needs" camera although the manufacturers would like you to believe that.
People are smart enough to understand you are not going to do some heavy off road riding in a Ferrari or try to win a circuit race in small van, but when it comes to camera's they want it all, with the best performance and also for an affordable price. People don't buy camera's to satisfy their needs, they buy cause it is better than another brand, even if they don't ever gonna use some features of it.
Buy what you need, buy what makes you take better pictures, buy what makes you do your job easy. Try to find a mix that work for you and don't mind that er always be camera's that perform better in one of those fields.
Greetings and thanks for sharing.

Excellent job. I am certain most of the popular reviewers pulled the S5 out of the box and did NOTHING with the auto focus but half press the shutter release... also... when you get a final reply from Godox please inform us of their answer to the flash to focal length zoom issue.

Great video! I like your insight on this camera as I was anticipating the a7IV but now i may be looking elsewhere for a full frame system. I also plan to shoot more weddings (light) and sports action in the future. Keep up the good work. I look forward to seeing more of your s5 content!

I've thoroughly enjoyed the Panasonic DFD on the micro four thirds for photography. I used to have a few of those cameras. I'm on Fuji now but will be getting this S5 soon. Thanks for the review.

Just love your video. I have a s5 and S1R coming from Sony. Can you share where the configuration for the autofocus is? I am still using the old way of center focus. Again congratulations for your video.

Great video, really informative and its coming from someone who actually uses the gear! Thank you. Now to save for that 24-105! P. S. I'm loving the autofocus on my s5.

Point to point in photography Panasonic’s DFD Contrast based AF has always been top notch….

Great video sir. I did a bunch of research before I bought this camera a few months ago before I went to Yosemite for a family trip. This is my first "big boy" camera and I love it. I use it for about 60% video / 40% pics and it is awesome. I have filmed some corporate commercials with it as well as have it mounted on a Ronin gimbal mounted to my DJI M600 drone! I have also been loving using it with the new DJI Wireless Mic system. My question comes in about the flash feature(s). Specifically the use of a wireless flash. I see in the user manual that it says to only use the Panasonic flash but i figure that they just want you to keep spending your money on Panasonic? I have been looking at the Godox wireless flashes but hearing you say that there is a "bug" with the recognition of the zoom and such, I might rethink? I am curious about the wireless compatibility between the S5 and the Godox (any brand) wireless flashes. Any issues, can they work together? I see that many others are having issues with the shoe breaking so I might look to other brands to avoid that hassle.

Thanks for the review - I use various Godox flashes with my S5 for real estate photography....I'm wondering if you ever run into flash / auto white balance issues, where your images come out too warm from time to time. I find that I am having to set manual white balance or kelvin for better results, which I never had to do with my Fuji body. I've read that it's potentially a Godox / Flashpoint smart trigger issue and that folks using other flash products don't run into this Godox & auto white balance warming problem.

File sizes. You did mention you shot the A7III in uncompressed, so that could yield a 40ish MB sized file. Shoot it in compressed and you may get something like a 24MB file size. If the S5's file size is right in-between, it could possibly be in some sort of lossless compressed. I don't see any raw compression option in my S1R, though my A7R4 (Compressed and Uncompressed) and my Z7 (Compressed, Lossless Compressed, Uncompressed) gives these options. So it is my assumption that Panasonic RAW files could be a default lossless compressed.
