If you haven't, please familiarize yourself with magnetic Flux, inductance, & inductive-reactance. This is how it is understood (could always be wrong, lol) that the magnetic fields in a coil react & interfere with the current/voltage in a wire or coil. Also, how a coil with a metal core reacts to the field.
It will be easy for you to understand if you don't already cuz you got a good grip on this.
